Encompassed! Sahdia Khan joins the team

On Monday we welcomed Sahdia to the team as our new Programme Development Officer. Sahdia will be heading up the UK programme, as well as working with British participants on the international programme. Here Sahdia introduces herself:

As a former participant on an Encompass Journey of Understanding, I fell in love with the ethos and work of Encompass and decided that herein was a field I’d love to pursue. Back then working at Encompass was just a dream and it has been ever since. I decided that in order to pursue this dream, I should get involved with likeminded organisations and carve my path, in the hope of one day working for Encompass. I became a peer mentor and a few years ago joined the management committee as Vice Chair, at Aik Saath, a peer led conflict resolution charity.

Aside from this, but in keeping with my passion to work with young people, I decided to join the teaching profession as an English teacher at a local comprehensive school. Furthermore, I founded the 3rd Wexham Scouts Group, for which I am a keen Group Scout Leader.

Aside from my work and voluntary work; I also completed a number of courses both here and abroad in the field of conflict resolution, anti-racism and intercultural learning.  Therefore, when the vacancy for Project Development Officer arose at Encompass, I was delighted, as I had been working towards such a role, but also quite nervous, that I had now the opportunity to turn my dream into reality…and I did! I am really excited to be working at Encompass, an organisation I really believe in.
