The North East ‘Journey of Understanding’ programme will take place from 5th-13th July 2009 and will bring together young people from diverse backgrounds across the North East of England.

BE OUR NEXT TRAINEE FACILITATOR!
Calling all past participants based in the UK!
Encompass is really keen to help our past participants to gain the skills they need to continue promoting the understanding they gained during their Encompass programme. And what better way than getting you directly involved in running an Encompass programme? After all, you’ve got something really special that none of the Encompass staff have…you’ve been there and done it all yoursefl!
So from now on Encompass will be offering ONE past participant of an Encompass programme to come with us on EVERY future Encompass programme as a Trainee Facilitator.
So what’s it all about?
Being a Trainee Facilitator will involve helping to run the discussion workshops which make up a massive part of the programme. You will:
* Plan the workshops, reflecting on YOUR own experience
* Have the chance to input your own ideas
* Facilitate your own discussion activities
What else do you need to know?
Encompass will cover your travel costs, accommodation and food for the duration of the programme. After completing the week, you will also be given a reference from Encompass which proves that you participated in facilitating the programme.
What does Encompass expect in return?
1. Complete a ‘Training Log’ during the programme which will help us to monitor your progress and keep a record of the activities that you have been involved in facilitating. Your ‘Training Log’ will also be a useful tool for evaluating your experience at the end of the programme.
2. With all these new facilitating skills, Encompass will support you in putting them into practice in your own local community. Whether you would like to run a series of workshops at your college or youth group, help out with activities already going on, or set up something completely new, you will be expected to use your new facilitation skills!
3. We also expect you to stay involved with Encompass and that you will help us to run various activities in the future.
How do I apply?
The next Trainee Facilitator opportunity is for the North East ‘Journey of Understanding’ which will take place from 5th-13th July 2009 at the Ullswater Outward Bound centre.

Your answers to the questions on the application form will help us to make the first round of selections. Those selected will then be asked to take part in a short informal telephone interview which will help us to get a fuller idea of your motivations, experience and potential.
PLEASE NOTE: AT THIS TIME THIS OPPORTUNITY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE LIVING IN THE UK WHO HAVE TAKEN PART IN AN ENCOMPASS PROGRAMME.
